Bringing In An Extra Income With Part Time Work

by admin on Nov.22, 2009, under Jobs and Careers

Some teenagers would like to be able to get a job and earn money. www.jobsvacancies.org is a good place to start searching for a part time job. Since these individuals are still in school, the next best thing to getting a real job is getting one that is part time. If you are looking for a part time job you should consider the following points:

• You should always have a copy of your CV ready, which should be fully up to date. You should write a CV even if you have never worked before. Your CV is the place from where you should really sell yourself, so detail your skills and achivemenets in work or your personal life.

• At the interview stage you should ensure you are well dressed and your overall appearance is professional. Areas which are eaily visible, such as finger nails and hair should be neat and tidy. Depending on the position your outfit should be smart or smart casual. An acceptable casual outfit would be a smart polo shirt with trousers. Keep your shoes clean and matching your outfit and don’t wear too much jewellery.

• Rejections are a normal part of the process when searching for a new job. If you receive a rejection do not dwell on it or take it personally. Focus on securing your next interview with another potential employer.

• When one is already in front of the employer, a firm handshake is always a good start. Walking in and showing ones sincerity in getting the job is another. Whilst in the interview make sure you convey why you want the job and the skills you feel you can bring to the organisation.

• It is worth noting that the interviewer may have other candidates to see, so don’t expect to be told if you have been successful straight away. By keeping a list of the places where one went for interview, one will be able to call and follow up the status of the application.

Remember, part time jobs are often advertised locally, so keep your eye on local notice boards or newspapers. There are often part time jobs going at supermarkets, to find ASDA job vacancies, look online or in your local store.
